Meridian Speakers meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, and reserve any 5th Tuesdays for special club events. Members and guests gather at 6.45pm for a 7.00pm start, and follow an intensive two-hour agenda. We also often mingle at the bar afterwards to trade tips, exchange ideas and socialize.
For a list of our upcoming meetings, see calendar on the right of this page, or visit our Meetup group to RSVP.
What to Expect
During the course of a meeting, we try and get as many participants speaking as possible. The regular agenda offers lots of opportunities to work on your public speaking skills through prepared and impromptu speeches.
Functionary roles like the Timekeeper, Topicsmaster and Evaluators are also excellent ways to practise speaking in front of an audience, while performing an important function and working on your leadership skills. All these activities encourage the Learning by Doing approach of Toastmasters.
To give you an idea of what happens on the night, here’s a brief agenda:
- Introductions by the host and club functionaries
- 2-4 prepared speeches by club members
- Evaluations of prepared speeches
- Short intermission
- Impromptu speech training with audience members
- Evaluations and reports from club functionaries
- Meeting wrap-up
